Green Chile Turkey Burgers Recipe – Healthy Turkey Burger Recipe
I don’t know about you, but at our house ground turkey is a staple. We always have it frozen in the freezer along with chicken breasts. These green chile turkey burgers recipe is super simple and delicious. Since I’m low carb and so is my husband, he’s actually more of a keto diet than me, we eat our burger on lettuce, you can even wrap the healthy turkey burger in the lettuce. I like to buy the butter lettuce because it seems to last in the refrigerator for a long time and it’s flexible. If you like a crunchier lettuce for your turkey burger, then try iceberg.
Since, my kiddos need more carbs than the adults, they eat their turkey burgers on rolls.
Back to the ground turkey for the green chile turkey burgers, I like to buy the ground turkey when it’s on sale for about $3 a pound and stock up. It’s budget friendly and my family is always happy to eat a dinner made with it.
Usually I add a bunch of spices to my ground turkey, you can even add chopped up cooked veggies if you want a bulkier turkey burger. Just be careful that they are chopped super small because otherwise the turkey burgers could fall apart.
I like to cook our green chile turkey burgers on the grill, but we live in Arizona, so it’s super hot and for several months we don’t turn on our oven or stove because we don’t want the air conditioner to have to work any harder. But, you can totally cook these in a pan on the stovetop if you prefer!! You will actually get a crustier outside of the burger.
On the top of these green chile turkey burgers, I added a southwestern cheese. If you are low sodium, just choose a low sodium cheese. I also added avocado and some pico de gallo (choose your favorite salsa).

- Mix the ground turkey with all ingredients above oatmeal.
- Separate into 4 equal sized patties. Either grill the patties or cook on the stovetop until done:) Enjoy!!
- If my turkey mixture is sticking to my hands, I add oats and let the mixture sit for 5 minutes to absorb the extra moisture. If I add chopped veggies I always add the egg and the oats to bind the burgers together.
- Toppings: Whole green chile, avocado or guacomole, cheese of your choice & salsa:)
